A beautifully preserved Scandinavian rya rug with a tree silhouette against a golden sunset background. Made from 100% wool, it is incredibly soft, thick, and clean—a rare find in such excellent condition.

Rug care

To keep your vintage Rya rug looking beautiful and soft, a little regular care goes a long way. Vacuum your rug regularly to remove dust and dirt, using a vacuum with a low suction setting to avoid damaging the fibers. Always vacuum in the direction of the pile to keep it neat and prevent any wear.

If spills happen, blot the area with a clean, dry cloth, being careful not to rub the stain in. For tougher stains, it’s best to have it professionally cleaned, as washing at home can risk damaging the fibers.

To keep the rug in great shape, rotate it every few months. This helps ensure even wear, especially in areas with heavy foot traffic or sunlight. Speaking of sunlight, try to keep your rug out of direct exposure, as the sun can fade the colors and weaken the fibers.

If the fibers start to flatten, gently fluff them with your fingers or a rug comb. This will help keep your rug feeling soft and looking fresh.
